Back to the old days with retro

Vintage and retro lighting takes us back to that time where design could still be quirky and uniformity had no right of existence. But what exactly is the difference between vintage and retro design? Vintage pieces are original items from the 50's, 60's, 70's, .., while retro design refers to those times, yet everything is brand new.

Modern classics

At dmlights we don't sell any vintage lighting. Retro on the other hand, we've got plenty. Many of the lights in this selection are modern renditions of original designs from the mid-20th century. They're equipped with LED, live up to the modern day standards in terms of safety and materials and wear new and trendy colours.

A nod to the past

Not all of the lighting in this range has its roots in the past though. A nice example is the IC Lights collection by Flos. Even though this collection only dates back to 2014, the designs and materials clearly remind of the old days.

Retro bulbs

Retro bulbs are also very popular. Just think of all the hipster coffee bars and other trendy places where you can see them dangling from simple fixtures by the bunch.

This look will work at home as well. Hang a couple of retro bulbs over the kitchen island or a cluster above the dining table. Not only will it look very chique, the warm and cosy light from these bulbs will work miracles for your interior.

Modern farmhouse style

Another style in which the retro bulbs thrive perfectly is the modern variant of farmhouse living. The fixtures in glass and cost iron, which often make their appearance in this style, form the perfect base for these beautiful bulbs.
